NZ IDN domain names

I've registered a new domain name, ānaru.net.nz, to test how one of these names will fare in our ASCII oriented world. I've signed the zone and registered it via dlv.isc.org I've tried to subscribe to this list using the email address asjl(a)ānaru.net.nz and I get told: NZNOG Subscription results Your subscription is not allowed because the email address you gave is insecure. I'm quite sure this is only the first of many problems I will encounter.

Hi Nathan We're looking at it - its a branching unit off-shore of Sydney that was installed on the Pipe PPC-1 cable - its certainly an option for us. Means we would have to use the PPC-1 landing station in Sydney so investigating. How common is this scenario? It's such a pain in the ass and I'm getting sick of dealing with it..... OrgA emails OrgB. Email goes through MailHostingCompany's SMTP server. OrgB rejects OrgA email because SPF disallows HosterA's smtp server from sending email on behalf of OrgA.
