DNS + IPv6

I'm doing some work with IPv6 at the moment, and one of the upcoming tasks I'm going to need to do is get a couple of IPv6 DNS servers online. Can someone tell me if the NZ SRS supports IPv6 glue records? Specifically, can I register the AAAA NS records?

Trademe are announcing their network to both APE and WIX. Their preference is to route packets via the WIX as they're based in Wellington so we've path stuffed the APE announcement so that dual APE/WIX homed entities favour the WIX. This is also so that paths can be symmetric as return packets from Trademe will favour the WIX where they can. Some of you who peer at the APE and WIX may still be favouring announcements from your upstream provider and in many cases these will be links that you pay charges which are related to usage in some way. If I were in your shoes I'd be constructing some BGP policy tweaks to favour APE routes over routes from a link I was paying for regardless of AS path. I've added two community strings to the announcements of 202.21.128.0/24 via AS24078 which may help: 24078:9439 announced via WIX 24078:9560 announced via APE

This announcement is posted on behalf of the Ministry for Economic Development. - - - - - Dear industry colleagues, Ultra Wide Band (UWB) is a new wireless technology developed to transmit large amounts of data over very short distances. UWB devices are designed to operate at very low power levels, enabling them in theory, to share spectrum with traditionally licensed services over a wide range of frequencies without adverse impact to those services. Potential applications of UWB are high-speed wireless networking in the workplace or at home, ground penetrating radar for geological surveys and search and rescue, wall penetrating imaging in construction, vehicular radar for collision avoidance, medical imaging, and hand-held communication and measurement systems. The Ministry is in the process of preparing an engineering discussion paper seeking submissions from the industry and stakeholders, on spectrum allocation and technical standards for UWB devices. In conjuction with this paper, the Ministry is planning to hold seminars in Auckland and Wellington to clarify and discuss issues raised. Wassenaar Agreement and strong crypto exports

Hi guys - this isn't strictly operational but I think it's an appropriate audience. As per the subject, I'm after current info about experiences with MFAT over the export of strong crypto, either as software, or embedded in hardware. The online references I can find (Some listed below) are reasonably old and I was hoping there had been some change. (I quote from a 1997 letter from Sec Foreign affairs and trade - Mr Borrie) "This sort of product (encrpytion software) is considered a "dual use" good in terms of the New Zealand Export Controls which means that they are able to be adapted for military, terrorist or criminal use" (I could adapt a plastic spoon for criminal use - but that's beside the point!) Evening All, This is a slightly late-ish advisory that R2.co.nz will be webcasting the NZ Secondary Schools Rowing Championships from Lake Kaipiro on 8 and 9 April. The webcast servers are located at both APE and WIX and network operators may experience a frenzy of teenagers wanting to watch their team win. Or hassling their Help Desks that nothing works. Operators not currently peering at APE or WIX should contact CityLink if they would like assistance with peering. During the webcast, we will be attempting to do the event live, as well as uploading a recorded version of each race, so that folks can relive those few moments of glory. Telecom New Zealand, for example, is reportedly planning to alter TCP packet interleaving to discourage VoIP. By bunching all voice packets in the first half of each second, half a second of dead air would be added to every conversation, changing latency in a way that would drive grandmothers everywhere back to their old phone companies. This is because phone conversations happen effectively in real time and so are very sensitive to problems of latency. Where one-way video and audio can use buffering to overcome almost any interleaving issue, it is a deal-breaker for voice."
