Dear Colleague,
This is to notify you that one or more objects in which you are
designated for notification have been modified in the NZRR routing
registry database.
These objects are used to configure the various NZIX route servers
(http://nzix.net/) so you can expect the relevant servers to be reloaded
in the near future. The reloading of the servers is staggered over a
period of time so that if you are peering with both servers at an
exchange, you can maintain at least one BGP session at all times and
consequently a full set of routes.

Wildly off topic but there is a beer reward!
My son has recently moved to study in Christchurch and taken his PC which runs
Ubuntu with him.
He's having problems getting it to boot and needs help from someone with clue.
Replies off list to me please.
Thanks

Hi NZNOG members
At APNIC's 25 Open Policy Meeting in two weeks, the community will be
discussing a number of proposals related to the depletion of
remaining unallocated IPv4 address pool. If your network will need
more IPv4 addresses in the next few years, these proposals will
affect you.
In the lead up to APNIC 25, the community is currently discussing
the proposals on the APNIC Policy SIG mailing list. It's great to
see that some NZNOG members are already contributing to the debate.
Policy is driven by input from the community. So I encourage you
to read the discussions to date and add your thoughts to the Policy
SIG mailing list. We need to know what you want so APNIC policies
best meet your needs.
Policy proposals under discussion
---------------------------------
prop-050: IPv4 address transfers
prop-052: Cooperative distribution of the end of the IPv4 free pool
prop-053: Changing minimum IPv4 allocation size to /24
prop-054: NIR operational policy document revision
prop-055: Global policy for the allocation of the remaining IPv4
address space
prop-056: IPv4 soft landing
prop-057: Proposal to change IPv6 initial allocation criteria
prop-058: Proposal to create IPv4 shared use address space among
LIRs
You can read more about the proposals at:
http://www.apnic.net/policy/proposals
How to join the discussion
--------------------------
You can view the Policy SIG mailing list archive at:
http://mailman.apnic.net/mailing-lists/sig-policy
The bulk of discussion about proposals to be presented at APNIC 25
has occurred in January and February this year.
To join the mailing list, go to:
http://www.apnic.net/community/lists
Kind regards,
Elly

Dear Colleague,
This is to notify you that one or more objects in which you are
designated for notification have been modified in the NZRR routing
registry database.
These objects are used to configure the various NZIX route servers
(http://nzix.net/) so you can expect the relevant servers to be reloaded
in the near future. The reloading of the servers is staggered over a
period of time so that if you are peering with both servers at an
exchange, you can maintain at least one BGP session at all times and
consequently a full set of routes.
Diagnostic output:

Hello,
Just doing a whois on a few domain names, and I am getting access
denied.
I have tried on 5 different hosts, on 5 different networks, and all
getting the same response.
I have even gone to the dnc.org.nz page and nothing of note there.
It's been like this for what seems like 10 - 15 minutes, but might be
longer.
Any clues?

I assume we're talking about .nz based on the reference to the DNC...
I just queried one fine both from cli and from the DNC's website.
Mark.

Someone with quick fingers (and I think you know who you are) must have
done something.. because it is now working..
Took a long time to work though!
Must have been about 15 minutes..

Yeah, I had this same problem a few months back where someone from .nz
finally responded to this list saying "there is no problem" where many
people were getting the same issue as me... Once again the outage was only
20mins or so, see
http://list.waikato.ac.nz/pipermail/nznog/2007-November/013617.html
Thanks

By the time I'd got around to testing this it had come right.
Any official explanation?
Joe.
