If I was a visitor to NZ I might find your comment a little unhelpful if not offensive, but since I am a Kiwi and well known to many here, I am more than a little puzzled by your sharp rebuke.
The reality is there is a significant international event on here and lots of inbound visitors, many who are used to having access to public wifi wherever they go. There was not only a lost opportunity for revenue here, but we are sending some international people away with a poor impression of our country.
I'm not surprised Chris wrote what he did. You did call our country "Third world afterall". Do you not think that is an offensive thing to say? Especially as most third world countries do not have anything close to the technology we have here in NZ. We also have a lot less starving people here. You're probably able to wear your iridium costs anyway, as I'm sure you come from a much less third world country than us, where wages are good, so what's the big deal. I am sure the sale of the boat will cover it. Cheers, Mike

I have a big boat for sale down there and also have heard people asking about.
Connecting via iridium to send email is rather expensive, but hey this is a third world country afterall.
