The email distributed this morning was to name holders of domain names that are directly billed by Domainz. How can this be spam ?
Its about only using the email address provided for the purpose it was given and agreed to by the registrant. It's quite ethical for domainz to communicate with registrants about registration matters. That is after all the service folk purchased. But its quite another thing to communicate with registrants offering them ISP or other services without their prior approval. I'm not aware of any tick box on the Domainz registration service that allows folk to say "don't send me UCE" when they register a name (or at any other time). That being the case, and the fact that Domainz has aquired all of its customers by virtue of its monopoly, I think it has a responsibility only to use the data for which it was originally intended. regards -- Peter Mott Chief Enthusiast 2DAY INTERNET LIMITED http://www.2day.com "Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something!"
