That probably just comes down to who controls which DNS. Having xtra.co.nz pointing to both mx1 and mx2.tnz.mail.yahoo.com allows Yahoo to easily change the target of the DNS to two different machines at some stage in the future without having to get Xtra's DNS admins involved in the process. In effect, it's just giving more flexibility to the outsourcer - even if they are choosing not to use it today. Scott.
