I think you're being a bit unfair here, given that my initial post had a single 'query' regarding key length and many more points regarding site security, personnel, procedures etc. There is no way that I'm proposing that keysize is the single biggest factor here.

repuation seems like a significant factor to me. its either "we all love Father Christmas" cult of personality or there is a problem with the limited size cabal of cronies who are rigging the system w/o our knowledge or consent... ie throw the ruffians out and put in someone "I" can trust. and no the police are not universally trusted. /bill
