Its been several years since requests commenced for an industry standard WHOIS server providing public access to .nz registry data.
For this to be truly useful and effective, this requires more than new interface to the existing data -- for `whois' type data to be useful, you really need some kind of NIC handle system -- something which the current system(s) are not well suited towards.
2day.com is now preparing a petition to present to ISOCNZ requesting it direct the registry company to have an official .nz WHOIS server up and operating within 60 days.
For the reason I mention above, I don't think 60 days is a reasonable time frame... how long -- I don't know, but ~2 months seems a little optimistic even if you assume that the domain holder details are correct (many of them are not, and many domain holders don't really know what a domain is more or less the important of reliable consistent information). -cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
