Well, it should be backwards compatible for the most part. An AS with a 4-byte will need full support on all their kit, but they should be able to interconnect with peers without any problems. The non-4-byte AS sees it as AS23456.
Ah, theory. Everything works perfectly in theory. ;)
I'd be interested to see where it doesn't in practice, I haven't heard of anything so far, apart from the thing you're talking about... do you have any details about that? I would imagine it's just user error somewhere.. -- Nathan Ward
