Domainz announced to its members yesterday that it supplied a copy of the .nz register to the Inland Revenue Department. All we know is that the data was supplied in response to a "requirement" by the IRD rather than a "request".
No clear reason has been published as to what IRD intend doing with the complete name holder list, but one can imagine it has something to do with tax complaince.
I can imagine the IRD having the power to gain access to financial records, such as GST invoices, but a membership database? How did they pull that off?? -- Andrew P.
