The requirement of a "telephone line" (ie analogue phone, as opposed to a cable pair), is nothing more than Telecom policy because they can, which is to be expected when they are allowed to do whatever they like. -----Original Message----- From: Cameron Kerr [mailto:cameron.kerr(a)paradise.net.nz] Sent: Friday, 16 January 2004 3:17 p.m. To: NZ Network Operators Group Subject: [nznog] Jetstream without Telephone Hello all, I'm currently in the process of moving. Having had Telecom disconnect my phone-line at 12 noon, I've discovered I can still access the internet via Jetstream (which is getting moved on about Monday). I find it interesting that this is possible, and adds credance to the apparent fact that you don't need a phone connected (obviously you need the line though) to have Jetstream working. Could be interesting food for thought wrt to the unbundling report by the Commerce Commission. -- Cameron Kerr cameron.kerr(a)paradise.net.nz : http://nzgeeks.org/cameron/ Empowered by Perl! _______________________________________________ NZNOG mailing list NZNOG(a)list.waikato.ac.nz http://list.waikato.ac.nz/mailman/listinfo/nznog
