Hi,

I had ESX 3.5 running on some old HP DL360s with Dual P3 Xeons which you should be able to find on Trademe for around $100s

Also have you considered ESXi instead of full blown ESX?

Cheers

Chris

Hi All,

I'm after a bit of help.......The story...

I have some community/not for profit websites/vm's I need to move and have arranged some hosting, but it's only 1U, (current space is 4U). I really need to run ESX as I'm running VMWare Server 2.0 right now but would like to progress (I have ESX 4 running on commodity desktop hardware at home, but the upload isn't fast enough). Trouble is as there is little capital available for a server purchase and the two 1U boxes I have lying around don't work , I need to find a good second hand option.

My googling has turned up nothing concrete as I need to gaurante that whatever I buy will work. I have looked at hosting this offshore but as the hosting is very good value its not cost effective. (If you WAND boys read this, I'll move your VM onto this too...)

The question...............

Do you have ESX 3.5 running on older hardware and if so what is the spec/model/etc. This needs to be 1U, disk space only needs to be around 30GB. I don't think the budget will cover hardware that will run ESX 4.0

TIA,

Bill
