As a contractor, if I see 8.8.8.8 configured somewhere, it says to me that either the previous contractor was lazy, or this device doesn't need to make much use of the internet, but still needs to be able to resolve basic things like nz.pool.ntp.org or smtp.somewhereoutthere.com, and I would be happy to use 8.8.8.8 for that purpose.
