4/ Run an event within a larger event. In practice for this year this would mean the UniForum NZ conference. This is scheduled (with a final choice of hotel pending) to take place in Auckland in early to mid July. (The school holidays run 29 June - 14 July.) The convenor has suggested that NZNOG run a stream over a Thursday and Friday, with format and room requirements negotiable. The main conference seems likely to run Thursday - Sunday. There would be an option for people to register only for the Thursday and Friday.
Thursday and friday have traditionally been the practical workshop days. Is it not possible to run a stream on the main conference days? Or is it thought that room concerns may be too much?
In any case, we would be aiming to keep under the sort of cost figure Roger De Salis has mentioned.
Have you found out what the Uniforum conference fees are this year? Would we just charge this? Or look to recover our own costs only?
I believe we could now proceed by accepting one of options 1, 2 or 4 and at the same time appoint a group of people to liaise with others involved and to coordinate a programme. Or we could appoint a group and leave the choice among options 2, 3 and 4 to them. Thoughts? Volunteers?
I think we are still neglecting program content. We don't really have a good idea what people want to see. Unless they are all mailing you privatly, in which case fess up with the info =) Dean - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
