And that is a far more significant issue. By registering domains in the New Zealand registry, and claiming German addresses, the criminals have a reasonable chance that nobody in Wellington will know whether claimed contact details in Munich are credible - and they are probably totally bogus. The contact email, on Gmail - untraceable ... the contact phone number a cellphone, which (being GSM) could be roaming almost anywhere in the world that has GSM. The main objective here is anonymity, given that what the criminals are doing is illegal in most of the countries where they are operating.
