Ok... so here is a factoid. The number 1 most prevalent DSL modem in the country (Alcatel-Lucent/thomson Speedtouch 536) as shipped, and still shipping with xtra signups, supports pptp passthrough to atm/dsl - meaning if people want they can have v6 compliant kit so long as they terminate the connection on something that supports v6 i.e any recent OS or WirelessAP. Problem is no-one who isn't a geek is going to take the 10-15 minutes out of their day to figure out how to set it up from the defaults. Another interesting factoid, the 536 supports configuration server updates from the upstream. I guess what I am saying is that it wouldn't be so difficult with a little co-ordination and a soft/dhcpv6 client to make all of the currently deployed v536's work as native v6. Just sayn.
