Hi Folks, A certain multinational equipment manufacturer has recently had a sales push into NZ, putting new unlicensed band access points and radios into the hands of their RT dealers in the hopes that they will become WISPs to their communities. These dealers are radio people, and so have a good idea about how to propagate their desired waves about the place. This particular gear is great if you want to get a job done (like, say, CCTV over wireless), but it isn't kind to the spectrum, and default deployments can eliminate the clean spectrum in a city within days. My suggestion to everyone out there in unlicensed space is use the largest antennas you can get and turn your radio transmit power down to stay within the legal limits. At 5GHz a subscriber panel antenna hears noise from 30 degrees, while a subscriber with a 900mm dish hears noise from 4 degrees. As long as you're not on the same tower/building as these other guys, your subscribers should be able to avoid their noise.
