Hi Mark,
The CallPlus node is open to anyone at APE and we were sitting on it happily until our upstream provider Kordia changed from PacNet to Vocus.
By accident or by design? (If by design, then yes, that particular point would be moot, but some ISPs may well see that the Opex of operating an Akamai node is only in effect recovered by paying customers, and not by those taking advantage of free peering. There is a cost to being on the APE, and if (for example) a GigabitEthernet link to APE was put under pressure by a large number of APE folks hitting your CDN node, will your beancounters approve of paying for more APE connectivity to service people who aren't even your customers? No? How surprising?) Cheers Mark.
