I'm curious to hear about your 'uptimes' complaint. I know the Waikato systems have far exceeded the 99% (or there abouts) uptime requirement that we are contractually required to deliver.
99% -- is that all you are required to provide? As someone near me pointed out thats over 85 hours per year or 1h40m per week you could be down... ouch.
Chris,
I would have to consult the contract to confirm the figure, but
I do think we've far exceeded it (without gathering numbers, a
licked putting a finger in the air).
All of this uptime agreement stuff gets quite political quite
quickly, so I'm going to keep out of it.
But :
The DNS servers have built in redundancy (unless you hardware
your lookup to hit one server in particular).
The registry data only goes into effect once a day (at around
4:00pm when the zone build kicks off)
Which leads me to believe that it's really all about the
timely confirmation of applications to register or change
a domain.(ick, sounds like Manager speak....)
Now I've stirred the waters, I'll await your responses....
Geoff.
