As I mentioned before, I share reservations that ISOCNZ is an appropriate body to _dictate_ policy on this issue. However, it is probably a good forum in which to make the issues more public.
Joe, I have the same reservations - in fact ISOCNZ is in no position to do such a thing - even if it wanted to. We have however been asked, by a number of ISPs and others to do 'something' about this issue and we feel that trying to get the parties together in a non-threatening environment is a good start. The solution, whatever it is must be 'owned' and agreed to by all involved - otherwise it has little chance of success. Clearly, Robert has a much better solution, which he is keeping from us at the moment - but I'm sure he will reveal all when he is ready. -- Regards Jim Higgins Phone 04)472 9949 Managing Director The Networking Edge Ltd Fax 04)385 9511 Chairman, The Internet Society of NZ Mob 021 963 268 P O Box 5275, WELLINGTON jhiggins(a)netedge.co.nz http://www.netedge.co.nz --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
