There's actually no L-Root server in New Zealand right now -- I suspect that Auckland University is seeing one of the instances hosted by AARNET in Australia. I'm guessing, though, since I don't have a test point to see directly. dig -4 @l.root-servers.net hostname.bind ch txt dig -6 @l.root-servers.net hostname.bind ch txt or dig -4 @l.root-servers.net . soa +nsid dig -6 @l.root-servers.net . soa +nsid ought to reveal a hostname, if anybody is interested in checking.
