Craig,
Amongst many other things Akamai is trickery with DNS. It's more that
than routing magic.
Your tests show that your local office DNS is resolving differently to
what you're seeing at home, or what Tim is seeing in sunny Nelson.
I'd be looking at whoever looks after your local DNS rather than
pointing finger.

So is this supposed to be still operating? Trailers.apple.com went there for about a week.. as did downloads.microsoft.com now it appears to go via an akamai cluster in Australia? Tested via traceroute from orcon.. -----Original Message----- From: Steve Kurzeja [mailto:steve(a)a.geek.nz] Sent: Thursday, 31 July 2008 3:38 p.m. To: nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz Subject: [nznog] Akamai streaming cluster on APE. Hi All, This is a courtesy email to let those peering at APE know that their APE traffic may start to increase today. Callplus and Akamai have worked together to deploy an Akamai streaming cluster on the APE. ISPs peered at the APE accessing Akamai streaming content (e.g. trailers.apple.com) should see this traffic shift from your transit providers to APE today or in the near future. The IP address range for this cluster is 119.224.143.0/26. To check you are reaching it correctly trailers.apple.com should resolve to an IP address within 119.224.143.0/26 and route via callplus1.ape.net.nz.
