Dear Pete
My name has a letter r on the end
Thank you for flagging this issue; you are the first to have pointed it out (it doesn't seem to have caused a problem to other Registrars so far).
How would you know?
First of all, it would be much appreciated if issues could be notified in the first instance directly to the Domainz Customer Service helpdesk at 4service(a)domainz.net.nz. This will enable us to handle them in an orderly manner.
Not interested. They dont have any skilled people to talk to. Futhermore I have no time to talk on telphones. If you establish a discussion list where anybody can join and bring problems to your attention, whilst sharing possible solutions, then we all gain. That way this and other lists dont get inappropriate traffic. Your continued secrecy modus operandi will not be recognised by me
The requirement for a non-null holder_email has been in place since November 1997. However, the Waikato system only checked for valid format, not that the name was working.
In an electronic environment, we do need to be sure that we can communicate when necessary, hence the need for a working email address.
You have a reasonable right and a need to communicate with the applicant for a domain name and the entity for whom you bill. I dont have an opinion on whether you should be checking the validity or reachability of of an admin or technical contact email address. What I do have a *strong* view on is your company of changing system operation *without* notification, prior or otherwise. I can only assume this is happening as a result of your lack of understanding of the DNS in general, the business of maintaining a zone, and the operation of the UoW registry.
