Vodafone is trying to get people to use the other APNs, because "internet" was a test APN with a limited number of IP addresses available. They have changed the www.vodafone.net.nz to give a public IP address instead of NAT. It's still restricted to outbound connections only. I updated the list last week on request of VFNZ: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=40&topicid=9780 Mauricio Freitas http://www.geekzone.co.nz http://www.geekzone.co.nz/freitasm http://www.twitter.com/freitasm -----Original Message----- From: nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz [mailto:nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz] On Behalf Of Philip D'Ath Sent: Tuesday, 16 March 2010 8:13 p.m. Cc: NZNOG List Subject: Re: [nznog] Vodafone NZ Broadband Issues Personally, I only tend to use the "internet" APN so I can get an actual public IP address. I've had several applications (mostly VPN clients) that break when I try to use the Vodafone APNs that do NAT. -----Original Message----- From: nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz [mailto:nznog-bounces(a)list.waikato.ac.nz] On Behalf Of Dean Pemberton Sent: Tuesday, 16 March 2010 8:11 p.m. To: Nathan Ward Cc: NZNOG List Subject: Re: [nznog] Vodafone NZ Broadband Issues Nathan Ward wrote:
My understanding is that most APNs in Vodafone give you an RFC1918 address, and NAT.
And my understanding is that the minute there are issues people try and avoid those APNs like the plague =) Dean _______________________________________________ NZNOG mailing list NZNOG(a)list.waikato.ac.nz http://list.waikato.ac.nz/mailman/listinfo/nznog _______________________________________________ NZNOG mailing list NZNOG(a)list.waikato.ac.nz http://list.waikato.ac.nz/mailman/listinfo/nznog
