Whats
happened to this list?
Seems its moved away from technical side of things and turned into
some pseudo-political list for the ISP industry, this is shown in the
steady shrinking of messages posted and the disturbing level of flame
wars (I.e. Telecom Paging interface).
Lets recap what the past 2 months Topics have been
July: Mobile Data & Voip, Spammers, Dns Issue
June: Power Down in 09, Telecom TCP/IP Paging Interface, Bit's of net
history in NZ
And look at what we were talking about a year ago
July: NTP, SPF & Spam, ISP Map's and Locations, New IX Locations,
Upload Speeds, Vpn's in 04,
June: Telecom's Pest Control/Rat's and Fibre Optics, Trademe Problems,
NZ Ip's, Telstra Faults, NetScreen help
Somethings seriously wrong when there is more coverage on TV3 than
NZNOG about the governments decision to go ahead with LLU, we got like
12 messages on it.
No one has even really talked about the sale of 3.5 GHz microwave
spectrum and the Wimax trials that are currently in progress, a lot of
issue slip beneath the radar list because it's "off-topic".
While Im ranting Im aware that some on the list think that a issue
with the countries largest ISP isn't list-worthy but when a potential
300,000 people drop off the face of the net it always has a flow on
effect to other's in the industry, if posting to the list and asking
the question can save anyone some time or hair on their head then I
personally think it's worth while. It's not exactly like it's clogging
up the list because we have 100's of messages to read every morning
We are all relatively smart people here and I would like to think of
this list as a place where we can come to and ask question, give
answers and collectively come up with solutions to issues facing the
users of our respective networks.
Enough with the flame's and the "Can we please kill this thread"
comments, let's get the list back to a place where we can come and talk
to our peer's in the industry

Yeah it's a long rant and a bit blunt but its 2am and Im running new
router config through a test harness
FYI: This is my opinion and my opinion alone and does not reflect the
company i work for

Before things get sidetracked too much,
as I mentioned, the problem is
with msa.hinet.net, not msa.hinet.tw.

Can we please kill this thread.
Since when did nznog become the Xtra helpdesk?
