hi all IMHO Some careful use of the start of the subject line for things ..something like : ANNOUNCE: for "announcements".. REQUEST: for "proposals one wants feedback on" ALERT: for "urgent announcement of wide importance" (or BABY ARRIVED: for "urgent announcement of supreme importance" ) is all that is needed to distinguish the more discursive postings from the more compelling material re operational matters. I confess to slight annoyance at the number of postings, but I know it won't go on for long ... we all have plenty else to do. And unless I see a different subject line then I am not trapped, as I can easily opt out by some delete by subject. I certainly haven't seen much that I find spurious. I do think this list is important space. I read without posting on Dec 31 - Jan 1 and felt this was most reassuring so thanks to those who participated then. Perhaps quoting Domainz board is "gossip" as it is in the third person. However Patrick and others are certainly able to reply here.. so I cannot see a big issue. As far as the discussion that has emerged around Domainz performance and practice .. I have found most of that relevant and interesting and would not have read it if it had been shuffled off to a "gossip" list. Depending on what temperature the air conditioning is set to in various NOCs around NZ ... maybe the number of postings will stay high for a day or so now... as the list reflects on itself or fissures :-) Hopefully only the former. <gossip> It's a hot summer day in Christchurch and the air conditioning in this office is malfunctioning </gossip> so please excuse any rough edges from me.
