Im not speaking for any ISP here, But if customer X is paying me $1000 month for service im not about to tell him to Sod off. And as we all know, When domainz send an invoice to a customer, They call the ISP. Its part of the service. Its all a bit frustrating I know but its what we choose to accept in some cases. Education I agree is a good idea, So many ISP's are doing some good work to educate customers on the risks, i.e.: AV & spam filters in mailers. Many of us saw this as good money making opportunity, its commendable to these ISP's that most offer it for free, its all about the customer. We do need them. Not saying your observation is wrong Michael, Just that I really wish it was that easy :) Best Regards Matthew G Brown Managing Director B & R Holdings LIMITED Nelson, New Zealand Ph: 027 4807731 Http://www.brh.co.nz -----Original Message----- From: Michael Hallager [mailto:michael(a)networkstuff.co.nz] Sent: Thursday, 7 August 2003 2:29 p.m. To: Dan Clark Cc: nznog(a)list.waikato.ac.nz Subject: Re: [nznog] DomainNamesNZ Hello all. Businesses have been told for the last several years to have systems in place to assess invoices arriving in the mail. This has been the case since newspaper advertising scams. (Old stuff). Just like businesses have been told over and over again for the last 4 years to have an effective A/V system and update their software. Yet peoples computers still get infected. yada yada.... When stupid people wake up and start taking responsibility for themselves, the businesses/scam artists that prey on such, will have to give up and get an honest occupation. Until that day, (If it ever comes), these people are best left to their own devices rather then having everybody hold their hand in the big wide world. In the same way ISP's offering flat rate accounts for only 20 bucks a month should not put themselves in a position of allowing themselves to become the defacto computer support service for people who can't RTFM. yes, we have received around 1/2 a dozen so far, some of my clients got them directly and were just going to pay it! hrmm, in reading the small print on the back it also says something about not being able to
change registrar's for a whole 60 days after 'transferring to them'
