If you use Domainz as your Registrar, they have the right to communicate with you, right? The OpenSRS was implimented some time back; Its approaching the stage where everyone who had a domain prior to the OpenSRS has probably had their yearly rollover; and as a result has had opportunity to change registrar when renewing. I don't see anything wrong with Domainz communicating with people who have *chosen* to remain with them. ?
Exactly. Domainz must have weighed up the positives and negatives of emailing their Registrants, knowing some might consider it spam and change registrars, and that others might be grateful for the information received. In any case, it seems more a matter for Domainz and its customers rather than the nznog community. Perhaps some don't appreciate there has been a change in the market, and people who don't like Domainz for whatever reason are totally free to change to another Registrar - there are more than 30 others to choose from.
