Yes, ADSL2+ is readily available, but... Knowing Thom and SMX, if they're doing what I think they're doing, then residential-grade services aren't going to cut it. ADSL2+ is fairly common these days in Australia. Between the various providers most metro and large cities/towns have one or more providers.
We have our own ports - so I get 13Mbps/2Mbps at my distance from the exchange.
At Tullamarine ADSL2+ is definately available.
