Hi,
I've got a Telstra fibre install happening next week, and I intend to plug the single mode tail straight into my Cisco 3750G via a Single Mode SFP, I've spent the afternoon tying to get the spec / wavelength out of Telstra& Downer to no avail..... the only answer they can come up with is its delivered as an "ethernet" service via a media converter, and go away... you pesky customer!
Could someone please let me know if its a 1310nm (1000BASE-EX), 1550nm (1000BASE-ZX), or 1490nm (1000BASE-BS-D), as I intend to "store" the media converter in a trash can once its commissioned, and want to order the SFP in advance of installation.
Oh come on... I'm in week 5 of waiting just to get a price to connect to the bit of fibre that's running 5 m from where I'm sitting right now. Don't know what your issue is... at least you've got a provisioning date? Took me 2 weeks got get it acorss that that 2mbit HFC really isn't a solution for moving our hosting from .us to .nz. (I'm scared of GeekZone geeks laughing at me for trying to run a Xen server on an HFC connection.) What's the trick Liam? Or did you just not bother asking what it costs? D
