Peter,
Patrick prefers to have a one to one relationship with each of us.
I am not sure where this has been stated, but I have *not* stated this. Certainly I cannot supply you Peter with a list of organisations as you seek below -- there are issues of Privacy.
Is DOMAINZ willing to provide us with a list of:-
* E-mail addresses that regularly submit applications to 4e-mail.channel(a)domainz.net.nz or registry(a)domainz.waikato.ac.nz * Host names of computers (other than www.domainz.net.nz) that regularly access the scripts on domainz.waikato.ac.nz
Initial details have been sent to isocnz list, nz nog, and nz.general. I never said that this was the only place it would go. We *are* working on how we do our best to contact as many users of the service that will be affected, as you would expect a service driven organisation to do. However, I did make a committment to get the things "out of the box" for discussion, particularly to the NZNOG by yesterday, Tuesday. I met this committment. I have no issues with the ideas being discussed on one, two or many lists. My problem is that I do not have time to monitor a myriad of lists. It *is* important though that we hear the outcomes of any discussion by next week. This *does* require a formal channel for information to get posted back to Domainz, which is why I've provided a separate e-mail address. I've also asked for some specific information from each Registrar. Again, I do not think that they ought be publishing that kind of sensitive information to a public list. Thus they can use the formal channel provided. For your information I've posted to the NZNOG list and ISOCNZ lists too. Apologies in advance for the cross-posting. I think it would be great if folk could take some time reading the DOMAINZ documents and considering how the changes will effect their business. Whilst you are doing this, others are joining the list. My original post was to ISOCNZ's list and the NZNOG list. I had hoped DOMAINZ would see its way clear to helping us get people who dont follow either list but it appears Patrick prefers to have a one to one relationship with each of us. I have now e-mailed the soa email address for each ISP listed in the back of Netguide magazine. Does anybody have any other ideas on how we can get as many people as possible who may be effected by the registry changes participating here? I am very concerned about those folk who have written scripts to talk to domainz.waikato.ac.nz in the absence of a WHOIS server. NSI made a major snafu when they changed the internic WHOIS without consultation. It made more than a few ISP's and WPP's look bloody silly. Remember if our services are effected by something DOMAINZ does, its us that looks bad, not the registry. I'm not suggesting that anything DOMAINZ is proposing is silly or unreasonable. I am saying people need to be informed so they can plan for the changes. I remain puzzled as to why DOMAINZ would think it OK to advise changes only on its own web site and a few special interest lists. I intend to pick up on the things I think are significant about the changes in about 48 hours time. In the meantime, could I ask that everybody post a short intro message stating who they are / who they represent so others have an idea who is participating.
