On Fri, Jan 21, 2005, Matthew Poole thus spake:
After some discussion, my colleagues and I have established the existence of this "non-alcoholic beer". It appears to be an American product, sold in large volumes under the trade name Budweiser :P
Actually, according to this paper at Michigan State University: http://www.msu.edu/course/lbs/145/luckie/inquiries2003/seven.html Budweiser has an alcohol content of 4.9% (though some Anheuser-Busch web pages claim 5.0), which puts it in excess of Tui, Speights, DB Draught, etc. Though most of the Monteith's line seems to be >= Bud. Mind you, I'm not suggesting I would prefer to drink Bud; merely making the pedantic observation that it is less deserving of the non-alcoholic moniker than much of what I find in the local New World cooler. I only drank Bud as a teenager, and that because when you're under the legal age you drink what you can get... As to the original topic, I look forward to joining Mr. Linton in further assisting the research regarding this mystery compound during NZNOG... :) Regards, Ed Hintz ed(a)hintz.org
