The story I heard was thata Vixie wanted wireless to his room.
Now we all know how likely that is to happen in NZ. Geek Conference or no Geek conference =) Maybe he read about this in Hawaii http://www.idg.net.nz/webhome.nsf/UNID/C76BC187C46A79AECC256BF3007EFF2F!open... and decided we may be there 8)
The other 100 people there had no problem getting email over the wireless that was around. Yes thanks to Citylink guys for the wireless network. It was great. The way it was set up you could be online while you had a few drinks at the bar too

Having heard the subsequent thanks to you for providing 802.11b gear, perhaps I misunderstood the criticism (maybe it was "transit through telecom sucks", or "jetstream is wildly unsuitable for use in a conference full of geeks attached at 11M").
Vixie apparently found it more efficient to travel back to Peter's house on the north shore and get his mail there, for example, than to do so in the hotel.
Well he did have a dialup link set up by Quicksilver. However he didn't get it going till later and didn't ring us up to find out why. He did say later on he did get it going after he found out the impediment.
Anyway, congratulations on getting something off the ground. I wish I had been there :) Well Dean and a few others made a dent on the Mott Beer supply on your behalf.
