Does anybody have any ideas on how to stop the .nz registry delegating names to ones name servers when they are not authoratative nor permission obtained for their use?
Right now -- I don't think you can do much about it. Surely this is also the situation with other registries too though? If I register wibble.org (which I can't, because someone else has, but ignore than for now) with Network Solutions and I can put much anyone I like in there for name servers.
This happens when they "reinstate" a domain after it has been suspended, usually for non payment of registration fees.
I've tried asking them privately, but they dont seem to understand. It was not so much of an issue when it only happened once or twice a month, but it is far more regular now.
I'm curious -- is a problem for you? If so, how? It seems to me you could look at this another way - as joe user, I get a domain wibble.org.nz via some ISP, I pay the Domainz fee but not my ISP - my ISP revokes the DNS from theer infrastructure, but Domainz does not -- and why should they? I have paid them some money and they are perhaps obligated to honour their part of the contract? So, what am I missing here? -cw --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
