Thank you for the advice everybody.
I think the nz systems must dislike my nameservers (ns2.org.uk ns0.us) - which have valid 'A' resource records that resolve, but they're domain names in their own right. Or do I need glue records in the nz zone for these nameservers before I can use them ?
Records in the NZ zone (or daughter zones) for ns0.us and ns2.org.uk would be out-of-zone data, and would be ignored by most authority server implementations. The fact that ns0.us is delegated from the US zone (and ns2.org.uk similarly from ORG.UK) should not prevent their use as nameservers. The apex A/AAA records in both case will be used, if present. Joe
