Security, both physical and systems, is of utmost importance. The couch might seem a perfect place to rack mount your equipment however it is by no means secure. I would recommend mounting the switch and any other equipment in a lockable cabinet, such as the oven (true geeks don't cook) and running cable through a duct drilled through the back of it. Additionally, electronic locking systems can be bolted to the hinged door and survelliance installed throughout the kitchen. And the warmer drawer makes an ideal place to store a change notebook, extra patch leads, etc.
Oh! I almost forgot. After you've mounted your switch/router/firewall etc in your oven cum 19" rack, you can take advantage of the convenient Window Kit already installed. As well as being able to look in and watch the Pretty Blinking Lights(tm) at your convenience, you could install a neon light stick (such as http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/fun-stuff/3738.shtml) and wire it up to the oven's light switch! Other enhancements; lining the inside of the oven with black speaker box carpet and buying a small tubular lava lamp and strategically place it for maximum effect. :-) BTW: What the hell's this? http://www.eurus.dti.ne.jp/~yoshi-w/audio/zoom2/auto9.jpg Reckon it might end up on our shores in about 5 years time?
