It seems very strange to me that Clear, Telstra and everyone else is responsive and happy to work for the greater good of the Internet users in the country, but Telecom only seems interested if someone else is paying for it.
While we are beating up on Telecom, how about the continued lack of domestic bandwidth that exists between Clear and Telecom? Congestion between the two networks over the last 2+ years has resulted in many customers complaining to us about poor web site performance from our servers when accessed from the Clear network. Telling the customer to connect from an ISP that has sufficient bandwidth to netgate (ie not connected downstream from Clear) does not seem a reasonable solution. Our Telecom account manager says they are ready to peer with Clear at the tower, but legal still has it in the too hard basket.
