We've got a Vodafone K4201 brought in New Zealand which works successfully with Mikrotik. It's 3G LTE. PPP interface mode or LTE interface mode. In PPP interface mode you get a virtual serial port from the 3G modem and you "dial" to establish a connection to the provider. This gives you a public IP on the Mikrotik device. In LTE interface mode (also called CDC Ethernet) you get a virtual Ethernet port from the 3G modem and configure a DHCP client on this, the 3G modem then allocated a lease to the Mikrotik often in the 192.168.1.x/24 range. If you need to reliably run inbound services to the Mikrotik you will ideally need a modem that supports PPP interface mode. We have found the Sierra Wireless devices work well for Telecom networks, for Vodafone/2Degrees we have found the K3805Z to work well. If you just need internet access, pretty much any of the common modems will work e.g. ZTE MF669, Huawei K4201 Regards, Andrew Thrift www.mikrotik-routeros.com<http://www.mikrotik-routeros.com> On Thu, Mar 27, 2014 at 4:12 PM, Daniel Millar <daniel.millar(a)gowifi.co.nz<mailto:daniel.millar(a)gowifi.co.nz>> wrote: Hey, If you check out: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported_Hardware Under 3G cards, It shows the chipsets of the 3G modems that the router boards are compatible with. Does anyone have experience with USB 3g sticks on Mikrotik routerboards? I've had quite a long look around, and without resorting to trial and error I thought someone here might be able to share their winning numbers with me.
