Hi Cameron,

I'm not that up with what brands exist in the NZ market compared to AU, but:

Netcomm have IPv6 firmware for the NB6Plus4 models
Billion have firmware for the 7800NL and N models and are having Beta for some recent 74xx models
We're selling the AVM Fritz!Box now which have good IPv6 support

We've worked hard with these vendors to get them to have code.  Netcomm did it using our trial.

(Internode has a native IPv6 trial in AU, we're in the process of pushing it out to the production BRAS around the country and finishing off our internal stuff).

I'm currently waiting on Orcon to provide native v6 on their connections, in the mean time making do with a 6to4 tunnel that ends up on FX Networks.

The main problem at the moment is a lack of a CPE that properly supports IPv6, my attempts to build custom firmware for BCM63xx modems has been largely thwarted for now by Dynalink/Netcomm's failure to provide proper board definitions in their GPL released source code (it boots, but doesn't identify the board properly) If anyone wants to donate their old ADSL2+ (preferably Broadcom based, working or bricked) modems to the cause, please email me offlist. The resulting firmwares will be made available to all.

Cheers,
Cam

http://www.inspire.net.nz/ are talking the clear technical lead from my observation.  That's not to say that others aren't.

See:  www.ipv6.org.nz for more information about what's happening in .nz

There is a technical mailing list.  Get posting your technical questions.  They're very helpful and it helps the guys to understand where energy needs to be put to continue to support early adopters.

Hi List,

I am looking at moving ISPs because of the recent standing of my
current ISP with regards to IPv6. In a nutshell, I was informed that
they will not support/give out IPv6 until they have used up the
current IPv4 allocations......"great"

So now I am hunting an ISP, with at least some decent phone plans and
that supports IPv6, even if it's part of a beta plan. That cuts out
xnet/wxc :(

I find it hard to believe that we are so close to IPv6 day and we only
have one ISP in NZ that will give out native IPv6....

I know this is more of a technical list, but I don't know where else
to turn. Google search came up blank :(

Thanks,

Pieter
