It seemed to take about 30 seconds to return an OK to the unleash address.
The 30 seconds will be the SPF checks slowing the connection down, we check the SPF record on a domain and if the connecting IP fails (soft or hard) the SPF check the servers will stall the connection for a period of time (depending on the failure type)
One thing they are doing is connecting to my mail server and running a VRFY against the address you specify ( of course 99% of mail servers block verify) :
We dont run VRFY's against mail servers, only a callout where we connect to the mail server and run MAIL FROM: <> RCPT TO: <sender address> If that fails we 'reject' the email. If the server does not respond we will allow the email through. -- Bruce Parker Development Leader DDI +64 6 757 2881 WebFarm Limited I Level 2, 2 Devon Street East, New Plymouth, New Zealand I Telephone +64 6 757 2881 I Facsimile +64 6 757 2883 ICONZ I WebFarm I Freeparking I 2day.com I Worldpay Specializing in Domain Name Registration, Web Hosting, Internet & E-Commerce Solutions
