Implementation: Abuse contact information _______________________________________________________________________
Hi NZNOG Community,
From 8 November 2010, all Internet number resource holders who hold resources from the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) will be required to provide a designated abuse contact in their APNIC Whois Database entries.
An Incident Response Team (IRT) object reference will be mandatory when any 'inetnum', 'inet6num', or 'aut-num' objects are updated or created in the APNIC Whois Database.
This proposal achieved community consensus at APNIC 29. The aim of this proposal was to improve the region's overall response to malicious activity online.
In preparation for the 8 November implementation, we encourage APNIC resource holders to take the following steps:
- Prepare your own abuse contacts and processes, OR - Find an upstream ISP or external CERT to be the contact for abuse reports related to your network
APNIC has prepared information and links for resource holders on how to establish abuse or CERT contacts in order to effectively deal with abuse reports.
