I understand various providers restrict access to their clients homepages via FTP e.g Slingshot doesnt allow you to access your pages through a proxy server at Polytechnic or University This is a pain in the proverbial A**se because the course Im completing is Cybertech/E Commerce /Web Design and as part of my project I am required to create and maintain my own site Sure its fine when this can be done from home but in some cases I need to be able to do this from class An example would be creating the site at home then zipping it up uploading the zip to my homepages, extracting it at polytech to work on a particular section then loading the completed site back to my provider Currently the only way to load it is by having 2 email addresses and transfering stuff between them unless anyone has a different idea Ok you may suggest using an outfit like Tripod etc but I dont want my project cluttered with thier adverts popups etc When one looks at some of the public domain sites they have the faciality for transfering stuff via FTP built into the site rather than having to run a seperate program Maybe its something that could be looked at hear with NZ ISP's If one of you is running a server which allows access via FTP through Proxy Servers and of course rates and conditions are reasonable let me know I may have to consider switching providers who knows lol ___ [| |=|{)__ |___| \/ ) /|\ /| / | \ | \ For all your Web Design and Photography Frank Tyson Stokes Valley New Zealand Mobile 021 134 1826 --------- To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
