Hello Joerg:
I'm pleased to announce that Vinton Cerf will give a public lecture on "The Internet: its future and the opportunities it presents", at the University of Auckland campus from 6pm to 7pm on Thursday 20 February 2003.
So everyone can safely attend Christophe's talk on Tuesday there, without missing out on Vint Cerf :-)
Yes indeed. We've had to change the venue for Christophe's talks, to one of the basement-level rooms in the ClockTower (that should be easier to find than the Computer Science Seminar Room) .. Title: Dr Cristophe Diot Topic: Measurement effort at Sprint: performance data from AS 1239 When: Tue 18 Feb 03, 12:00 Where: ClockTower 029 <<<<< Abstract: Network traffic measurements provide essential data for networking research and network management. In this presentation we describe a passive monitoring system designed to capture GPS synchronized packet level traffic measurements on OC-3 to OC-192 links. Our system is deployed in 5 Points of Presence in the Sprint IP backbone network. We present a set of results to both demonstrate the strength of the system and identify new characteristics of Internet traffic. The results include workload characterization of traffic, an analysis of TCP round-trip times and loss rates, measurement of single-hop and coast-to-coast packet delay, as well as routing convergence data. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Nevil Brownlee Director, Technology Development Phone: +64 9 373 7599 x88941 ITSS, The University of Auckland FAX: +64 9 373 7021 Private Bag 92019, Auckland, New Zealand ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through University of Auckland http://www.auckland.ac.nz/
