The email below tells us that Mark's domain stats site is no longer updated due to the DNC office.
Have the DNC office done their review and justified their reason for shutting down Mark's site? It is now nearly 2 months and we haven't seen any positive developments on this.
Bear in mind that Mark does this useful service at no cost to them (Or that's the impression I get) and this service existed way way way before DNS or even Internet NZ /ISOCNZ ever existed.
Unless they intend to take over the job themselves and do an equal task (without turning things into pdf documents or couched in legalese/spin), I would like to see Mark's site resume (if mark is willing to continue). If he isn't, I am sure there'll be someone who will be more tham happy to raise their hand to offer to take over the task
I think the major issue is preventing spam. As I have said previously I have been a major user of Mark's site and found it really useful. However the list of new domains registered does make it easier for scammers/spammers to compile a partial list of the .nz register. With around 4,000 new domains a month it only takes a year to get over a third of the total .nz register. I believe there is an intention to have growth stats published again, but I'm not aware or involved with any details such as where about.
