domain renewal fee

Afternoon, Just wondering if anyone knows why the annual renewal fee has gone up for .nz domains? Got a piece of a tree in the mail the other day mentioning that renewals have gone up a few bucks a year. Granted other costs have gone down, but for those who already have domains are going to wear the punch.
