Actually the noon deadline for April 1 jokes doesn't apply in all cultures, and certainly not in French speaking areas (where they're called poissons d'avril, April fishes). I don't know whether that goes for the whole of Belgium... I found it neceessary to submit errata for this RFC, while it was still April 1 in Marina del Rey, where the RFC Editor lives. http://www.rfc-editor.org/errata_search.php?eid=1750 Brian On 2009-04-02 10:28, Nathan Ward wrote:
I got this email at 5:25AM today, which is 6:25PM April 1 in Belgium where Eric lives. I guess the joke is on him?
It is only 9:25AM PDT though so the RFC editor is in the clear.
Anyway, enjoy:

RFC 5514
Title: IPv6 over Social Networks Author: E. Vyncke Status: Experimental Date: 1 April 2009 Mailbox: evyncke(a)cisco.com Pages: 6 Characters: 10127 Updates/Obsoletes/SeeAlso: None

There is a lack of IPv6 utilization in early 2009; this is partly linked to the fact that the number of IPv6 nodes is rather low. This document proposes to vastly increase the number of IPv6 hosts by transforming all Social Networking platforms into IPv6 networks. This will immediately add millions of IPv6 hosts to the existing IPv6 Internet. This document includes sections on addressing and transport of IPv6 over a Social Network. A working prototype has been developed. This memo defines an Experimental Protocol for the Internet community.
EXPERIMENTAL: This memo defines an Experimental Protocol for the Internet community. It does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. Discussion and suggestions for improvement are requested. Distribution of this memo is unlimited.
