Looks like it is a case of a user of ours who has redirected their mail to AOL and then flagged the mail as spam causing AOL to complain. First glance it looked as if it had been relayed through us.
I've certainly seen plenty of other similar ones over the years on systems I work on where somebody rings us up to tell us we are open relay but after investigation is turns out it is just a forward. This has happened to others to the extent that some people no longer allow customers to forward their email to external sites (especially AOL). Perhaps this sort of limitation will become common in the future. BTW: If anyone knows somebody as Bar Bodega (bodega.co.nz) in Wellington, could you perhaps explain to Tane McLeay why mass mailing random people isn't really an acceptable promotion method. -- Simon J.
