PHONE SERVICES AFFECTED BY POWER OUTAGES
Telecom customers may be having problems accessing phone, Internet and
data services in parts of Auckland due to a significant power outage in
Auckland and Manukau City areas and some other parts of the country.
The Telecom network currently has no power issues and all systems
including Telecom Call Centres are operating on back-up generator and
battery systems.
Customers should be aware that if they are having problems accessing
Telecom services, the problems are likely to be related to power outages,
Telecom spokesperson John Goulter said today.
Call centres are receiving a lot of calls, and Telecom is urging customers
to listen to media updates on the power outages.
We understand the main problem relates to a power substation at Otahuhu in
Auckland, caused by the high winds and stormy weather sweeping the
country.
North Shore and Waitakere cities are unaffected.
Power outages have also been affecting phone services in Northland,
Asburton and Timaru.
