In exchange for providing most of the top-end speakers, NZNOG is being offered a substantial discount off the normal registration charge, by being given first-shot at the cheapest discount rate. (There are legal limitations that prevent a more direct compensation being offered.) The first 50 registrations are being offered at a rate that is bearly above the marginal cost per attendee, for the benefit of those who have to pay their own way. I thought since we only got notification about the conference late last week you may be reminding us because the website had been updated so that there was a little more 'content' in the schedule.
There has been some time pressure because we've needed to give final commitments to our speakers from outside Auckland, and the registrations will shortly be advertised outside NZNOG, so I suggest that you get in quickly -- or tell your employer the full-price rate.
Paul Vixie ... Brendan Murray ... I'd be kinda interested in knowing what I was going to be paying $100+ to hear him talk about... :-)
Some speakers have been confirmed only very recently and have yet to furnish full details of their sessions. I will give them a hurry-along and let you know when they do.

Sorry about those; I have several people who've offered sessions, and enough back-up speakers to make sure that they happen, but not enough detail to promise anything too specific right now. I'll go knock some heads together and get back to you.
I'm sure that for many of you this is going to be a nice chance to catch up with your mates at the expense of your employer,
Ouch! I'm the convenor, and I'm paying my own way! If I'm *lucky* my employer will give me paid leave. OK, so perhaps my fill-in intro for Brendan Murray was too chatty and informal, but it was just that -- a fill-in.
I need a little bit more than what's there before deciding to fork out the approx. $600 and 2 days annual leave it's going to cost me to attend
See above, I'm chasing up speakers for more details, and I'll let you know when they're available. I realise it sounds like a lot of money to an individual, however if you were to go to a training company, they would charge you at least that for one day, let alone three or four. I'd really like to see this happen again next year -- but bags someone else do the organising! And just a word of warning: remember that since half of the attendees are also speakers, the remainder have to pay double to cover whatever you figure the costs are. -Martin - To unsubscribe from nznog, send email to majordomo(a)list.waikato.ac.nz where the body of your message reads: unsubscribe nznog
