Good call Steve and Thanks for you input. I'm going to try and nail Paul Vixie down a little more on what he's going to talk about. If anyone has anything inparticular in mind, then please mail this to me and I'll try and sway him. As for the other examples you mention, well they are an artifact of the 'Uniforum' part of the conference. I can't speak for or about any of their speakers. I only organised the speakers in the NZNOG stream. I've CC'd this message to the organiser of the Uniforum portion, so that he can give you some more information on these. Dean,
Thanks for all the work that you and many others have put into making this conference 'happen' and reminding us to go and register...
5) Here is the guilt trip... If you support NZNOG and this conference then there is a good chance that it will keep going in years to come. If no one turns up then there will never be one again. So even if this conference is not you IDEAL nznog conference - then please consider attending the parts that do interest you. That way there will be one in the future for you to have input into.
I thought since we only got notification about the conference late last week you may be reminding us because the website had been updated so that there was a little more 'content' in the schedule.
While for many people who read this list;
------------------------------------------ DNS workshop
Sat 13 Jul 08:45 ~ 16:00 (High-tech) Paul Vixie
Abstract
By the author of "BIND" himself!
Background -------------------------------------------
plus your comments today the name alone might be sufficient detail to want to sign up, for myself anyway, I'd be kinda interested in knowing what I was going to be paying $100+ to hear him talk about... :-)
And I think the same can be said for many of the sessions... a couple of other examples;
------------------------------------------- LUG #1
Sat 13 Jul 08:45 ~ 11:00 (Medium-tech) --------------------------------------------
This probably simply illustrates that I have no idea of what's going on in the world, and should probably be unsubscribed from this list as a consequence, but..??..huh...???
------------------------------------------- Brendan's Recent Research Topics
Sun 14 Jul 13:45 ~ 14:45 (Medium-tech) Brendan Murray, Otago University
Abstract
Background --------------------------------------------
Cool, so, who's Brendan, what does he do research into and...??....
I'm sure that for many of you this is going to be a nice chance to catch up with your mates at the expense of your employer, however for someone who's interested, and has received a reasonable amount of information from this list, but doesn't have an employer who's going to put even 2c towards my attending, I need a little bit more than what's there before deciding to fork out the approx. $600 and 2 days annual leave it's going to cost me to attend ex Wellington...
Cheers Steve
